Miller Weld Settings Calculator
In case you’ve lost your 200 page copy of the welder’s complete reference guide, here’s the Weld Settings App to the rescue. Especially if your materials or consumables tend to vary, the Weld Settings App can be a lifesaver. Plus, it’s extremely easy to use.
First, pick which process your using.
Then answer the two or three questions about materials, thickness, and consumables.
After answering those simple questions, the app returns a sheet of almost everything you need for setting your machine to the right parameters. That includes shield gas recommendations, amperage range, and which consumables will work best.
Especially if you don’t have an auto-set feature on your welder, this app is something you’ve got to try. It’s free for both iPhone and Androids. Just search “Miller’s Weld Setting App.”
In many ways, Lincoln’s Weld Parameter Guide shares many similarities in its design to Miller’s Weld Settings app. However, there’s a couple key differences within the details.
Lincolns App starts by asking you what process you’re using. They do reference the more technical names for each of the processes: SMAW for stick, GMAW/FCAW for MIG/Flux-Cored, and GTAW for TIG welding.
Once you’ve selected a process, the app lists all the information it’ll need from you. Here’s the key difference between this app and the one above. The Weld Parameter Guide asks for double the information from you. This can be bittersweet. It’s great to have more options as you can adjust for a variety of different scenarios, but it also takes longer.
We’ve found that having both apps is the best combination. If you’re trying out a new process, material, or shielding gas you’ve never used before, it’s great to have all the options of the Lincoln Weld Parameter Guide. If you’re simply trying to remember how many amps you need to stick weld Stainless steel, the Miller Weld Settings App is the perfect solution.
