This is my first plasma cutter, but I researched which brand and model to buy for months before deciding on this one. So far I only have about 1.5 hours of cutting time with it, but so far it is as great of a machine as all of the other reviews I have read stated. Shipping was fast, and everything arrived and is working as it should.

Very competitive price, plus Welding Supplies threw in some free consumables and a cover for the machine. As far as the 45 XP, I have only tried it on some 3/8 steel plate. This thing cuts unbelievably fast. I wasn’t accustomed to moving the torch that quickly. I debated buying a 45 XP for a while. Now that I have it I don’t regret the purchase at all.

Great machine. Works very well, but uses A LOT of air. I've got an 80 gallon tank compressor & it seems like it kicks on every time I pull the plasma trigger. My compressor will keep up with the demand of the plasma, but someone with say a small 25 gallon compressor would probably get frustrated constantly waiting on it to pump back up. I am definitely happy with my purchase & can recommend it.

I originally ordered the 45XP online without the CPC option by mistake. I called early next morning and customer service was great to correct the order before it was shipped.
The carton it was in, came apart just as it was delivered to my door. Luckily nothing was missing or broken, but the cable fell out when I picked up box to move it to my shop. The 45XP is what I hoped it would be. I had a cutting welding project today that I could have used the band saw to cut the 1" angle pieces, but the 45XP was much quicker and cleanup was only a quick brush with a cheap grinder. Wonderful product. My future use will be on a home built CNC table, but for now, I'm using it hand-held.

Probably one of the easiest purchases I've ever made. Super quick with not only PayPal check out options, but PayPal credit where there is no interest for 6 months. As for the product, it functions flawlessly and we cut thru steel like a hot knife in a tub of room temperature butter.

I will try and keep this review fairly short, but I generally research purchases that are in this dollar range pretty seriously.
I don't use a plasma cutter very often on our horse farm, but when I need one nothing else really works. I had purchased another major brand of plasma cutter 7 years ago and only actually used it a half a dozen times before it no longer worked only 4 years after I had purchased it. The manufacturer as well as the local welding shop said that they would have a very hard time finding parts for it and it would be pretty expensive to fix. Well, it was not an inexpensive machine to begin with so I found an authorized repair shop that could fix it. I used it 1x and then the second time that I went to use it the machine didn't cut. As it was a weekend and I really wanted to get the job done (cutting curved brackets in 1/4" steel plate) I bought another of the same brand from the local Farm Supply store (that specs said that it would cut 1/4" steel plate). After getting the unit home and set up, it wouldn't cut the steel plate.
The following week I stopped by my local welding supply shop to talk to them about the options (minus the brand that had bitten me twice) and they recommended the Hyperthem products.
After researching the Hyperthem brand online I called IOC to talk to them about the different brands and models that they sell and I settled on the Powermax 45XP as it fit 98% of what I would need it for and their package deals contained the pieces that I would have ordered anyway.
Well, after receiving this unit and setting up, what I had been spending hours trying to accomplish, I cut through in less than a minute, and it did a much cleaner job too.
If this machine holds up, and I expect it to given the quality of the components that Hypertherm uses, I will be a true convert. Both the local ship and IOC confirmed that they have very few service issues compared to the other brands of plasma cutters.
Even though they cost a little more than the competition, I think that there is more value in the Hypertherm unit, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I have it on my cnc table,and it works very well. Probably will buy a Thermal dynamics 60i to use beside this machine.. Both have their strong points.. Hypertherm is best for plug, and play.. but the 60i will cover what the 45xp will not.. Which is very little, but enough for me to buy both machines..

I haven’t really had it long enough to give a really honest review but so far it seems to be pretty much what i was wanting. I especially like the tip you can just drag across your material without burning it out. Pretty costly but I hope it will last a long time. Simple to operate. I put an extra water trap on my compressor and drain tank more often than I used to.

2nd purchase from IOC. Great merchant! As far as the Powermax 45, it is my first plasma cutter, so I have nothing to compare it to. I will say hat my wife and I have used it to cut 3/16 plate. It cuts as fast as we can write.

Have purchased around 10 Miller plasma cutter at least. Hypertherm is superior. Have had 5 Miller plasma cutters catastrophically fail so far. Hypertherm consumables are pricier but last much longer to make up the price difference.

Retired builder with an extensive wood and metal shop.
I did a huge amount of research on plazma cutters on several internet platforms as I had never owned a plazma cutter and Hypertherm was the machine of choice.
